What could be greener than recycling old clothing? Deborah Lindquist produces exquisite, feminine clothing masterpieces by reworking vintage clothing. All of her work is environmentally conscious and she produces everything from funky kids clothing to unique wedding dresses.

Greener Grocery Shopping

New grocery bag alternatives are popping up everywhere, but re-market is one of the first places I've seen re-usable produce bags. Bags are sold in various sizes, from large bags suited to your potato stash to small bags for more delicate fruits and berries. All bags allow the produce to breath and are transparent so that you can see what is inside. They are also quite a deal, with a mixed size set of 6 running around $15.

Starbucks saves lots of trees

This week Starbucks has added a new functionality to their cash registers. Now, when your barista asks you if you would like your credit card receipt and you say no, they can press a button so that the receipt is not printed. In the past the receipt printed automatically and the barista would throw it in the trash if you said you did not want it.

Nordstrom goes Greener

Nordstrom department store, my supplier of fabulous shoes and hassle free beauty counters, has decided it too would like to leave a stiletto size footprint on the environment. After the current supply runs out, all Nordstrom shopping bags and gift boxes will be 100% recyclable. The gift boxes will even be produced from recycled materials! Additionally, Nordstrom will be selling silver reusable shopping bags decorated with iconic US landmarks by Ruben Toledo for $22. Personally, I would have been a bit more excited if they had chosen to commission Toledo to design fashion illustrations for the bags, perhaps some of his fabulous shoes or striking ladies...hopefully next time!
